Teaches Contact Improvisation
CI events/jams organizingI was a Co-Director of Earthdance 2006 - 2009, and seeds festival 2008 - 2016. Currently more focus on Tuning Scores, Material for the Spine, and other syncretic touch dance.
CI events/jams regularly attendingNot often. Though I love to practice CI with people in intentional settings
Year began CI:1989
First CI teacher/whereMight have been Cathie Caraker? Felice Wolfzahn? I don't exactly remember, but the two of them were a huge influence early on, and I first learned about the form from a friend Clove Breuer who showed me some ways to practice when I was 18
Other important CI teachers/influencesMajor influences are collaboration and study with Karen Nelson, K.J. Holmes, and Scott Smith. I have also studied with Ishmael Houston Jones, Danny Lepkoff, Cathie Caraker, Ray Chung, Kirstie Simson and more
Current CI projectsMy focus is sensory perceptual research of Lisa Nelson's tuning scores and Steve Paxton's Material for the Spine. I am not often teaching CI specifically these days, but very much love to dip into the well.
